Italian artist Loris Cecchini’s first solo exhibition in Istanbul titled “Seed Syllables” can be seen from September 12 to November 2, 2017 at Sevil Dolmacı Art Consultancy, parallel to the 15th Istanbul Biennial. Cecchini’s works range from photography to drawing, from sculpture to large scale installations. Many of them have been exhibited in important museum and corporate collections around the World. Inspired by the organic growth of plants and natural phenomena, Cecchini has created stainless steel modules which can vary in shape and size, adapting to various architectural forms. For his exhibition at Sevil Dolmacı Art Consultancy, the artist transforms once again the gallery space and continues to distort the reality. Represented principally by the Italian gallery Galleria Continua and also Leila Heller Gallery, Loris Cecchini is also currently exhibiting in Fondaco Tedeschi, Venice his Waterbones installation, composed of 8000 pieces of stainless steel modules. In September 2017 he will participate in the group exhibition organized by Galleria Continua in Le Centquatre-Paris, in which many other important world renowned galleries and artists will take part. Many of Cecchini’s works belong to international institutions, among which The Elgiz Museum, Istanbul, Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris, Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI Secolo, Rome and GAM, Torino stand out.

Constituting a retrospective for Inan’s artistic career, the book includes articles from Humboldt University’s Dr. Elisabeth Wagner who witnessed a major part of the artist’s career and from Zeynep Yasa-Yaman of Hacettepe University, who also curated the exhibition “Nefs/Nefes” taking place at  Sevil Dolmacı Art Consultancy’s gallery in the historic Narmanlı Apartmanı until the February 2nd 2017.

The book focuses on major series that surfaced during the past 50 years. From the “Grotesque Figures” and “psycho-portraits” that emerged in the 1970s to the “Masnavi” Series which first came together in the 1980s; from “1001 insects” series in the 1990s to the “Ilyas Letters” and “Kafka” Series, the most important images from Ergin Inan’s iconography find their rightful place in this extensive book.

The Ergin Inan book is available at Patika Bookstore.

Ergin Inan, who has a special place in the Contemporary Turkish Art for both his style and content, celebrates the 50th anniversary of his art with a series of events organized by Sevil Dolmacı Art Consultancy. These events consist of an exhibition, a book and a series of special activities.

The Grotesque figures that the artist has created since the beginning of his career have found their way on to the canvas for the past 50 years. The drawings, calligraphic scriptures and other metaphysical elements have formed the Ergin Inan iconography rich in form and in content.

The Ergin Inan exhibition open from 15 December 2016 until 2 February 2017, will be in the form of a retrospective, emphasizing Ergin Inan’s 50 years of journey. The exhibition will be crowned with a book that gathers the result of this 50-year journey, making it an important source for Art History.
